Amazing video of 4 year old
Posted Friday, October 30th, 2009. Filed Under My Daily Dose | Leave a Comment
This is a very cute video of a four year old who can dance well. It serves as a reminder that if we put our minds to achieve something, we can do it. This four year old is not afraid of trying something new. Much too often we always restrict ourselves to what we can achieve by putting up barriers. Young children are not afraid of trying or even failing. They think anything is possible. We can certainly learn from them.
My Epiphany About Relationships
Posted Thursday, October 29th, 2009. Filed Under Voices of wisdom | Leave a Comment
IN MY SEARCH FOR …
I was preparing for my workshop last night and I wanted to find a definition for Surrender. I picked up the book, Conversations With God, by Neale Donald Walsh and I ended up turning to the pages about relationships.
On this page, the question to G-d is Why Are Relationships So Hard?
G-d answers him and says that our relationships fail because we view relationships by what we can get out of them — how is he treating me, how is he talking to me, is he paying attention to me, is he doing what I want him to do… and so on. G-d says that our relationships are NOT ABOUT what we get out of them RATHER, RELATIONSHIPS ARE ABOUT WHAT WE PUT INTO THEM!
I read this over two or three times until it really sunk in.
I am not even talking about the What’s in it for me people… that’s pretty obvious that it is all about them and being a taker.
I am talking the every day good person who expects from her relationships: spousal, financial, wellness, and so on.
MY EPIPHANY MOMENT
Wow, this hit me like a ton of bricks for two nights ago I had an incident with my older son and I realized (throught the help of my angel friend, Mary Montanari) that I was being judgmental and showing lack of compassion. It upset me, I called and apologized and told him I am sorry. That person is not who I am — I am an uncoditionally loving person — this act was not what I am about. I let it go.
This incident in combination with my awareness about relationships reminded me that I have been giving in some senses however not without expectations at times. And furthermore, I have been looking at my work, and friendships, and especially the men I have dated is why am I in this relationship – what can I learn.
IS THAT NOT THE SAME THING AS: WHAT CAN I GET OUT OF THIS??
Even though my intention has been to be of service I have been looking at it from the “wrong” side of the viewing glass.
This HUGE paradigm shift really made me think about my relationships, in particular my work and my dating experiences.
I KNOW THAT I WANT TO BE OF SERVICE IN MY EMPOWERMENT WORK AND THEREFORE I WILL PUT ALL OF MY LOVE AND HEART ENERGY INTO WHAT I CAN GIVE, LET GO OF ALL EXPECTATIONS AND THE UNIVERSE WILL PROVIDE.
I did last night. My workshop was full of unconditional love and compassion and I know the others felt it as well.
Learn to give from your heart with no expectations. It’s baby steps.
All my love,
Sandra
When Your Father Won’t Walk On Broken Glass … Show Him The Way

Great Story Shared By…
I just got off the phone wtih Garth Sandiford and he asked me a question, “If you had no choice will you walk across broken glass?” I said if I had to yes.
He told me he was with his son and they were at an motivational event and they were faced with this task of walking across broken glass. Garth hesitated for very human reasons: bloody feet and fear YET his son went ahead of him in line and when his turn came just crossed – no hesitation.
As our future leaders, it begins today, and you can do just as this boy did, do not hesitate, do not let fear stop you … walk on the “broken glass” and remind us to go for it – challenge our belief systems.
It can mean stepping ahead of your parents, society and walking your talk- just do it!
All my best,
Sandra

This is an excellent video that is 90 seconds in length. There are no words to it. It illustrates the power of courage. Courage comes from our change in attitudes.
Why men sleep better than women
Posted Wednesday, October 28th, 2009. Filed Under My Daily Dose | Leave a Comment

This is an interesting article about why men on average sleep better than women. Hormones play a role such as during menstruation. During pregnancy and perimenopause are periods where women’s sleep is disturbed. The article suggests five tips to get more sleep:
1) Stick to a bedtime routine
2) Restrict your time in bed. Irregular sleeping patterns would disrupt good sleeping habits
3) Exercise Outside
4) Ask your partner for help, especially if the children need to be fed at night
5) Talk to your doctor
Excellent quote of the day

“All is well, and you will never get it done. Life is supposed to be fun. No one is taking score of any kind, and if you will stop taking score so much, you will feel a whole lot better — and as you feel a whole lot better, more of the things that you want right now will flow to you. You will never be in a place where all of the things that you are wanting will be satisfied right now, or then you could be complete — and you never can be. This incomplete place that you stand is the best place that you could be. You are right on track, right on schedule. Everything is unfolding perfectly. All is really well. Have fun. Have fun. Have fun!”

The Shift Movie

The Shift Movie
I came across this inspiring movie, which you can view online. Here is the description:
“From the creators of You Can Heal Your Life: The Movie comes a compelling portrait of three modern lives in need of new direction and new meaning. In his first-ever movie (written by Kristen Lazarian and directed by Michael Goorjian),Wayne Dyer explores the spiritual journey in the second half of life when we long to find the purpose that is our unique contribution to the world. The powerful shift from the ego constructs we are taught early in life by parents and society—which promote an emphasis on achievement and accumulation—are shown in contrast to a life of meaning, focused on serving and giving back.
Filmed on coastal California’s spectacular Monterey Peninsula, The Shiftcaptures every person’s mid-life longing for a more purposeful, soul-directed life.
“Thoroughly unprepared, we take the step into the afternoon of life. Worse still, we take this step with the false presupposition that our truths and our ideals will serve us as hitherto. But we cannot live the afternoon of life according to the program of life’s morning, for what was great in the morning will be little at evening and what in the morning was true, at evening will have become a lie.” – Carl Gustav Jung
The Shift explores the intertwined lives of an overachieving businessman (played by Edward Kerr), a mother of two young children seeking her own expression in the world (Shannon Sturges), and a film director trying to make a name for himself (Michael DeLuise). Also starring Portia de Rossi. The Shift not only inspires, but also teaches us how to find the path to our spiritual purpose and therefore our greatest joy.
“I am 68 years old and I have a new career,” Dyer explained. “When I was asked to do this film, I didn’t think ‘I’m too old to do something I’ve never done before.’ I thought ‘I am open to everything. I am willing to change and to learn.’ I’m more proud of this film than of anything I’ve ever done before.”
Wayne Dyer appears in the film as himself. Special appearance by Louise L. Hay.”
Attitude the Movie

This is a worthwhile short presentation about the power of our attitudes. Some points that were discussed included:
- Defining your purpose
- Finding your passion
- Finding courage – People are like matches, almost ready to ignite, and make things happen
- Set goals or Make commitments
- Stay positive – “You become what you think about,” from Earl Nightingale
- Is my attitude worth catching?
- Simplify your life to capture beliefs that matter to you
- Keep a good sense of humor. Laughter helps make your day pleasant.
- Expect the best from people our outcomes
- Kindness – It is not always about material items, but rather how you can influence someone else’s heart
- Love – Love does not make the world go round, it is what makes life worthwhile
- Take time for renewal
The film summarizes that we are all very similar, but something small is what differentiates us apart. This is attributed to our attitudes and disposition towards life.
How Do You Find The Balance Between Your Religious Beliefs You Were Brought up With and Your Spiritual Awakening/Remembering?

MET SUSIE AT MY TAO GROUP GATHERINGS:
Week by week I sat there listening to these amazing women share their stories on their journey of awareness. I know that they are not the only ones going through what they are sharing and so I asked different women to share something specific about their journey, their awareness and sometimes their struggle.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for Susie for I know, through her stories that she has grappled with a few things, one being her religion and the way that she was brought up versus her beliefs today. I asked her to share this initmate part of her journey and she so graciously agreed.
Her religion is not important for she can be Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu or whatever. What is important is how she is dealing with it. I want other women on this path to know that they are not alone.
It has taken me a while to get some of the women to share for they tell me they are not good writers. I tell them the same thing each time: Write from you heart. And so Susie has and it is beautiful. Thank you.
Susie’s Journey –
Hi Sandra!
Always good to hear from you. Interesting request which led to an interesting initial reaction from me. I’ve struggled with religion almost my whole life (since 12 yrs. old) partially because it was thrust upon me. When my father switched jobs, he no longer worked on Saturdays and started to go to shul. As kids we were forced to go too, and as we all know 12 year old girls are at an interesting stage in their development. It was a power struggle and I found myself with the short end of the stick. As I got older, I lied and snuck out of the house and became more and more detatched from my family. Guilt was a pervasive theme and I wish I could say that as an adult it is non- existent. Every once in a while something comes up and I realize, I’ve got some cleaning up to do.
As I’ve explored my spirituality the past few years, my relationship with G-d has strengthened and at the same time I feel a disconnect with Jewish observance. I sit with my discomfort and trust that the answers will come to me when there are decisions to be made. I feel stongly about being Jewish and am proud of my culture and heritage. I love and respect my family for their choices and life style and I know that while they may be disappointed in my choices, they love and accept me for who I am. We are not our religion. We are all one, and we are all pure LOVE.
That’s it in a nutshell. It’s from my heart.

Question: How do I read my Statement?
Posted Thursday, October 22nd, 2009. Filed Under Financial Empowerment | Leave a Comment
Maritza shares a question asked of her by her neighbour:
First, we want to thank our readers for their wonderful feedback and questions.
A few weeks ago I met one of my neighbors. She is a single mom who has managed to pay for her son’s college years as well as make great Realestate investments. She confessed to me that although she had invested well over $100,000.00 into her 401k plan (like the RRSP), she did not quite understand her statement.
She asked me very good questions and we want to share them with you for we realize that many of us share the same questions.
She wanted to know what a few terms of her statement mean.
Q. What does it mean when it states “This Period” and “This Year”?
A. “This Period” is the time frame of the statement. For instance, if you receive a quarterly statement, this is every 3 months. If the time period falls between January 1st – March 31st of that year, this is called the first quarter. There are 4 quarters in a year.
“This Year” is usually the year that you are working in so for this year it is 2009. If it is a rolling year, that will include the last 12 months, for instance Oct. 2008- Oct. 2009. Look and see on your statement which 12 month period your statement is referring to. If you are unclear than ask your advisor.
Q. What is “Opening Value”?
A.the Opening Value is the market price for that mutual fund or stock or whatever beginning on the last day of your previous statement. If your year is from Jan – Dec of that year than the Opening Value is Dec. 31st of the previous year. Let’s say you receive a statement for your first quarter, January 1st – March 31st, 2009 than the market price Opening Value is for Dec. 31st, 2008.
Q. What is “End of Period”?
A. The End of Period is the market price for the last day of that period, as per the example above, March 31st, 2009.
Q. What did I earn?
A. The portion earned for that period, is the difference between the market price, Opening Value and the End of Period.
OV = $500
EoP = $550
———-
Difference = $50 earned during this time.
From Sandra:
** Please note that the market values can fluctuate as we have seen and the $ earned is only on paper and unless cashed out or “realized” is just that “on paper”.
That is good for money is not meant to sit idle – it is meant to flow. There is an energy around money. I tell my advisor with my stocks and other investments to see where I am at (can be up 10% or maybe he wants a loss) and at a certain point I want him to sell and then reinvest.
You need to trust your advisor and it is your responsibility to know at what price you buy things at so when things are sold or cashed out you can see where you have gains or losses.
Continue asking good questions and FOLLOW YOUR GUT. If you are not satisfied with your answers consider switching advisors. This is your money and you are in control!
All our love,
Sandra & Maritza
