Playing For Change is a movement around music – they travelled far and wide, recording and filming musicians from all over the world “to provide hope and inspiration for the human race to come together to start to build bridges instead of walls”.

A Prayer to start the week

Posted Monday, March 29th, 2010. Filed Under My Daily Dose | Leave a Comment

Concentrate on this Sentence

‘To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.’   When God takes something from your grasp, He’s not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better.  Concentrate on this sentence… ‘The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you’  Something good will happen to you today; something that you have been waiting to hear.

Please Do not break!

JUST 19 WORDS

GOD OUR FATHER,

WALK THROUGH MY HOUSE

AND TAKE AWAY ALL MY WORRIES AND ILLNESSES;

AND PLEASE WATCH OVER AND HEAL MY FAMILY

IN JESUS ‘ NAME.. AMEN

This prayer is so powerful.

Share this prayer to 12 people.

Guiding Our Youth Required Listening

Posted Thursday, March 25th, 2010. Filed Under Voices of wisdom | Leave a Comment

Through my own journey of empowerment I know about breaking cycles. I have worked hard and continue to work at breaking my own cycles that were passed down from generation to generation, especially by the women on my mother’s side.

My passion to empower women, share my story and the story of others is now being channelled into truly breaking cycles - VOICES OF YOUTH. As you have to begin somewhere I teamed up with another life coach, Mitch Gordon, and we put a workshop/program together that reaches out to graduating students from University and College called TRANSITIONING INTO THE WORKPLACE. We want to empower these kids by providing them with life skills that will make this transition easier. It will also plant the seeds for creating and allowing kids to be authentic to who they are, follow their path, be accountable and responsible for their actions, share interview tips and more. We have been reaching out to different schools in the Toronto and yesterday we met with two young men from the business school who work with the students. We shared our ideas. They loved it and saw the need for this – giving tools to the students for transitioning into the workforce. We discussed that there are the younger ones who will be looking for their first job and position in a company and more mature ones that have already been in the workforce and may be looking to change jobs and/or careers.

What was most exciting is seeing that there is a need and how we will come together, and collaborate and create something of value for these students. We also said we want to hear WHAT YOU WANT AND NEED. We look at this as a partnership.

This is just the beginning. We know our greatest learning is to come and we must stay open and listen to our “clients”, the students/the youth.

What I also look forward to is the mirror that will be held up to me. I am accountable and responsible to walk my talk, share from my heart and give and be of service. I know some of my greatest awareness to come is by working with the youth.

As a mother I do my best and I know that so do all the other mothers out there. I want to “help” those mothers out there that don’t know how to show their children the life skills I am talking about for they were never taught it themselves. All I can suggest is watch as these children start to make changes in our world for the better. They will show you how they are doing it and will lead by example.

I want to share a story that I read in the Oprah Magazine this month about how one daughter got her dad thinking. This young 14-year-old girl named Hannah, was driving in the car with her father and they came to a stop sign. She turned to the left and saw the Mercedes coupe and to her right sat a homeless man on the sidewalk begging for food. She looked at her father and said, “If that guy didn’t have such a nice car, maybe the other guy could have a meal”. The father then replied, “Well, what if we didn’t have such a nice car?”

This prompted a very big decision that led to a path of philanthropy – to downsize their home and take half the proceeds and donate the money to two villages in Ghana through the Hunger Project.. You can learn more in their book called The Power of Half. I will post it on my site!

WOW this story really grabbed my heart strings. You wait, watch and see what is coming with our youth!

Next week I will share what American Express found in a research study of what we want, what makes us happy.

All my love,

Sandra

I met with this man yesterday who comes from a financial background. He started his own company that is very successful and is in many countries around the world.

We began to talk about Women & Finances and he was very interested on my views and what I am doing with workshops and the site, collaborating with Maritza and so on.

WOMEN HAVE THE POWER – I do not know the exact percentage however I can safely say that women represent nearly, if not 50% of the potential investors in Canada. What does that mean? It means that some women today are independently wealthy and in some cases may be the “bread winner” and out earn her husband.

I read an article that women, if not already, are the larger group of the two that have money to invest. Most women due to their lack of awareness, fear and so on, do not invest for themselves and “hold onto money” for they do not know which investments to go into.

It really comes down to empowering ourselves and learning to take back the power: Ask as many questions as you need to until you understand, be accountable and responsible for your actions, and just get to know what is in your financial closet so that it is serving you in your best interest. Whether you are male or female, you need to determine your spending habits. Are you spending more that you earn?

I feel what is really intriguing the corporate world is that women need to step into their role as a financial person. It truly is about baby steps. Some of the financial institutions recognize that building a solid relationship with their women clients is so valuable to how women respond. Women are all about the relationship whereas a man usually wants to know about ROI.

The Corporate world is listening so speak your truth and be true to who you are!

Maritza and I are there to support and guide.

All our best,

Sandra

Here is my message to all women- we represent almost one half of the population here is Canada. We have the financial “clout”. This issue is that most women hand it away by not taking accountability and responsibility for their role in their own finances. It is much easier to blame your brokers, insurance people, financial institution. To be frank THE ONUS IS ON YOU to ask the questions and get the answers fully answered to your liking.

Then take all of this info and make it your own!

SPEAK UP AND OUT!

All my best,

Sandra

The Results are Subtle Yet Transforming

Posted Friday, March 19th, 2010. Filed Under Voices of wisdom | Leave a Comment

I lead a Mastermind group of women. The group started with 9 women including me and has dwindled down to 5. It has been an interesting process. As a group we do not judge and we wished the original participants our best on their journey. Some left because they could not put in the time, some left for this did not fit with what they wanted and one I encouraged to leave for she was so scattered with things in her life it was not fair to her or the group. Whatever the reason was it was meant to be this way.

When you look at Napolean Hill’s idea of a mastermind group you think about setting goals. I have moved the group away from goal setting and we are focussing on THE INTENTION OF ME – who am I and what kind of life do I want to lead? I have talked in previous blogs about intention vs. goals. I feel that the goal is about the destination whereas the intention is about the journey and it is the goals along the way that help you fulfil your intention. The clearer you are about who you are and what you want, the faster you manifest this = the results.

We have also been working on BEING IN THE MOMENT. Learning to quiet our minds so that we can clear the clutter and really hear what it is we want. It has been an extremely interesting 5 weeks.

We meet twice a month on a Thursday for an hour and a half. The time flies so I ask that the women be on time and be prepared to dive right in. I want to make sure that everyone has their equal time to talk.

The exercise for this week was to create a circle with “ME” in the center and to write all about who you are – not your roles for those are the spokes of the wheel – rather who you are and want to be: kind, non judgemental, calm, peaceful, joyful, love, etc. It was the words that will describe THEM and who they are; what they resonate with.
Of the 5, three people wrote and two avoided this. One of the three had a real challenge doing this. I find that interesting in itself and we talked about that.

Before we shared I asked two women to share with the group the subtle changes that has been happening in their life and how “their journey was mirroring subtle changes in themselves – more towards who they are, their authentic self or want to be!

I will share one story. One of the woman who I am close with had called me and emailed me but I was out of town. I called her back and she was jogging. We started to talk and she told me what she was dealing with. It was about money and family. In past she said she would have let this thing control her and drive her crazy. Through our talk we discussed letting go of the money issue and accepting her family for who they are and where they are at. Within our 25 minute conversation she realized that she had an issue with letting go of money. This is due to how she was raised and the family’s belief around money. She realized, accepted and then handed it back to her family – this is not who she is/authentic to whom she is. Once she made the decision to let go all things changed. A weight was lifted from her shoulders. She called a family member and relayed her decision regarding some money. THe result is that she now can let money flow as it is meant to, she is open to receiving and believing that the universe will provide what she needs and more, and most important, she has broken a cycle in her family that she has allowed to hold her hostage. NO MORE. She is free of this. She was grateful to me for helping her. I told her it was really her and that she just needed to realize and be aware — and more important, be authentic to her.

I am so proud of her. This shift will shift everything – from within to external. She now approaches issues around money differently. She is also able to speak her truth to her family in a loving and compassionate way that allows for wonderful relationships.

When this woman shared her INTENTION of who she is the words came easily from her lips. She knows exactly who she is!

Enjoy this story. Take time to really get to know who you are.
Do the exercise of the circle – with you in the center and the spokes (like a wheel) are the external relationships. What you do not want any more that is not serving you – let go of and surrender it.

All my love,

Sandra

George Carlin on aging

Posted Tuesday, March 16th, 2010. Filed Under My Daily Dose | Leave a Comment

George Carlin on aging!

(Absolutely Brilliant)

George Carlin’s Views on Aging

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we’re kids? If you’re less than 10 years old, you’re so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

‘How old are you?’ ‘I’m four and a half!’ You’re never thirty-six and a half. You’re four and a half, going on five! That’s the key.

You get into your teens, now they can’t hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.

‘How old are you?’ ‘I’m gonna be 16!’ You could be 13, but hey, you’re gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life! You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony.YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then youturn 30.  Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There’s no fun now, you’re Just a sour-dumpling. What’s wrong? What’s changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you’re PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it’s all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50, and your dreams are gone…

But! wait!! ! You MAKE it to 60. You didn’t think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50, and makeit to 60.

You’ve built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that, it’s a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80′s, and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn’t end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; ‘I Was JUST 92.’

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. ‘I’m 100 and a half!’

May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3.Keep learning.  Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever, even ham radio. Never let the brain idle. ‘An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.’ And thedevil’s family name is Alzheimer’s.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5.Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND, ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

And, if you don’t share this to at least 8 people – who cares? But do share this with someone.

We all need to live life to its fullest each day!!

Life’s journey is not to

arrive at the grave safely

in a well preserved body,

but rather to skid in sideways,

totally used up and worn out, shouting

‘…man, what a ride!

I Just Needed To See Some Movement…

Posted Friday, March 12th, 2010. Filed Under Voices of wisdom | Leave a Comment

I am very passionate about my empowerment work for women, children and the corporate world. I see the work that me and those who I have aligned with as being valuable to our world.

TRUST…
I have come so far with this – trusting myself, trusting the universe and really knowing that all is unfolding as it is meant to. More importantly, I am attracting what I need to do my work. I am not going to lie, there are days that I am frustrated and want to see things happen quicker. You see I am not the most patient person even though I know I have no control over the outcome AND I truly am working on being in the moment.

I am not sure if it is just the energy out there or what — I called my friend the other day and said that I am feeling “emotionally challenged”.

Sometimes I need to remind myself of my own words – BABY STEPS. I am planting the seeds and nurturing them and watching them grow. It also helps to have a great support group – people that lift you up.

Keep an eye out for other ways your messages come. I am part of a TUT group that sends motivational and inspiring messages to the group members every day. Yesterday I received this, and while I know that others received the same one, it is nice to have it personalized.

This is what the message said:

It’s working, Sandra! Every day you’re getting closer! Everything you’ve ever wanted is being pressed toward you. Everything is clicking. Don’t let the illusions trick you. Don’t let the events of today dampen your spirits. Things couldn’t be any better than they now are. You couldn’t have more reasons to celebrate. Now! Do it! The hardest work is done! Just show up, be present, open every door and let events unfold. Life is your stage. This is your parade. Together we can do anything.
I love it when you’re hot,
The Universe

This is just what I needed to see. Yesterday was a great day. I had a few meetings and phone calls that were powerful. I am seeing movement in my work and results. I am still continuing my path of sharing what I do as the path will take many twists and turns. I am staying open to the process.

If you are embarking on a new endeavour, please take baby steps and persevere. Know, believe and trust in who you are and what you do. Only YOU can choose the outcome. No one else can choose or do it for you.

Just put one foot in front of the other….

All my love,

Sandra
