There is a common belief that living in a democratic country means accepting and tolerating everyone and everything. I am for tolerance and acceptance to a point. That breaking point is when people immigrate to a country and try and bring laws, beliefs and thinking that is counter to the core values of the country. I realize there is a fine line however there is a line and there are times it must be drawn.

I read an article by a simple man who wrote a book (can’t remember the name) but in it he says he doesn’t know why he and his fellow countrymen put their lives on the line to beat Hitler and the Axis partners. He wanted to know if it was worth it. I say yes. And I hope this man changes his thinking to know that his valiant effort and those of his comrades are much appreciated by me, the Xer Generation.

Europe is seeing their core values being challenged. One leader, Prime Minister David Cameron, is speaking up and saying NOT IN MY COUNTRY.. Leaders look up, listen and follow suit. This article appeared in the National Post, “UK SEEKS BLOCK ON HOME-GROWN JIHADIS”, Tuesday, September 2, 2014

On Monday, Prime Minister David Cameron proposed new laws that would give police the power to seize the passports of Britons suspected of having travelled abroad to fight with terrorists.

Speaking to Parliament, Mr. Cameron said his government is also working on plans to block such suspected British jihadi fighters from re-entering the UK The power to monitor them in Britain would also be strengthened.

Terror suspects returning from Iraq and Syria will undergo a compulsory “de-radicalization program,” pledged Mr. Cameron.

I love the next statement by David Cameron in this article: “Tolerance must never be confused with the passive acceptance of cultures living separate lives or people behaving in ways that run counter to our values… Adhering to British values is not an option or a choice. It is a duty for all those who live in these lands. We will stand up for our values. We will, in the end, defeat extremism.”

The concern by the Western countries such as US, France and Germany and I’d like to include Canada (I really hope) is that citizens who travel abroad to join terror groups could threaten their home country when they return. These countries know that one of the biggest security threats is ISIS. It poses a direct threat to Europe.

Mr. Cameron said the government will push through laws to either force terrorists suspects to relocate from their hometowns or create “exclusive zones” where they are not allowed to travel.

We in the Western world can no longer hide our heads in the sand and think “oh but it’s not on my soil”. What affects one country affects us all. I know that the world has been too busy condemning Israel while ISIS has been allowed to behead, rape, pillage, kill, destroy, execute, and the list goes on with very little word from the people of the world.

It is time to say enough. These people need to be destroyed.

There are times where you need to stand up and fight. This is one of those times.

There is no perfect country. There are so many things I’d like to change about Canada to make it even better. Saying that, I do love Canada and will fight for our core values that I so dearly hold.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful weekend.

All my love,

Sandra
