The books you will find in this section are ones that I have read myself, been suggested by people I know, or simply books that seemed intriguing. As with all the topic areas you’ll find on this website, not every suggestion you’ll find listed here will resonate with you or “move you,” but each of them may trigger something in your awareness. A lot of my growth has come from contrast, things that challenged something within me. My intention with this site is to pass along the wisdom that has been shared with me and to remind you TAKE WHAT YOU RESONATE AND LEAVE THE REST.

Peace From Broken Pieces:
How To Get Through What
You’re Going Through

Author: Iyanla Vanzant
I saw this woman being interviewed by Oprah. They were having a candid discussion about their relationship – Iyanla was brought in by Oprah to be her relationship coach on air. This woman was at the top of her game yet everything collapsed. She admitted to Oprah that she lacked the self-worth. From “appearances” you would think that she had it all — but she didn’t. She thought that Oprah didn’t believe in her — truly what she came to understand is that she did not value herself. Iyanla paid a big price for self-sabotage. She was in debt and lost the rights to any of her work – as an author & motivator this meant loss of residual income and owning her intellectual property. She has since made peace with Oprah (and vice versa) and written this book. I recommend it!

Life Unwrapped
Author: Terri Klein
This book is written by someone I have come to know in the last year. She is my “diva sister” and it has been amazing to see how she has empowered herself in so many ways. One way has been in the finishing and promoting of this wonderful book of spiritual poems about the journey of life. The book has been dedicated to her late mother who was her source of inspiration. I have read the poems and they are beautiful and touching. What is wonderful about this book is that you can one poem or many in a day, you can pick the book up and then put it down and pick it up again at a later time, and it makes a great gift.  Please go to her website www.unwrapyourlife.com. You can order the book from her site or go to amazon.com or go to Indigo books. Enjoy.

Are You Indispensable?

Author: Seth Godin
I was introduced to Seth Godin through Ted Talks when I heard him talk about TRIBES and creating a movement to make a difference. I really enjoyed his talk and have become a fan of his. I am recommending this book and I hope you enjoy it. Like all things, take what resonates and leave the rest. I wanted to share his description of a linchpin: Linchpins are people who invent, lead (regardless of title), connect others, make things happen, and create order out of chaos. They figure out what to do when there’s no rule book. They delight and challenge their customers and peers. They love their work, pour their best selves into it and turn each day into a kind of art. They are the building blocks of great organizations, big and small. Like the small piece of hardware that keeps a wheel from falling off its axle, they may not be famous, but they’re indispensable. Could you be a linchpin? Do you employ linchpins? To learn more about him go to his website: www.sethgodin.com

Our Positive Future

Authors: Dr. Bruce Lipton and Steve Bhaerman
I am a big fan of Dr. Bruce Lipton’s and he just released a new book which looks so interesting. I am looking forward to reading it. This is a brief description of it:

According to eminent biologist Bruce H. Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman’s
Search for Everything Across Italy,
India and Indonesia

Author: Elizabeth Gilbert
This memoir is a recommendation of Oprah’s Book Club. After many people recommended this book to me, I read it and really enjoyed it. It is written in a colloquial, easy manner. I want to emphasize that Elizabeth Gilbert’s journey, while incredible, takes place within a very short, intense time period, so please don’t expect the same thing to happen to you, while it may. Instead, learn from her journey and let your journey unfold as it may!! I read this book during my own journey and there was one scene where she is sitting on top of a mountain and she calls in her higher self and talks with her soon to be ex-husband’s higher self. It really empowered me when I wanted to explore forgiveness.

The Answer Is Simple…
Love Yourself
Love Your Spirit

Author: Sonia Choquette
I have highlighted Sonia Choquette’s work before however I wanted to recommend this book for I feel that learning to love ourself is the place to start on this journey of awareness. When I learned to come from a place of love both towards myself and others — I started to see a shift in all my relationships.  As I mentioned the big lesson is guiding my children and allowing them to be and therefore the best I can do is lead by example and then step back, let go and love unconditionally.

Uncommon Dialogue (Book 1)

A New Earth
Author: Ekhart Tolle
This book was one of Oprah’s selections for her book club.  She loved this book so much and it had such an impact on her life, that she and Ekhart Tolle conducted a 10-week teleclass about A New Earth.  Oprah and Eckart Tolle focused on one chapter of the book each week, and you can find video of each of these teleclasses on Oprah’s website – www.Oprah.com — as well as a workbook. I do want to say that this book is not written in an “easy-to-digest” manner, but rather in a more elevated style. If you’re interested in reading A New Earth, I would recommend that you read books by Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer or Doreen Virtue first, as they have the same message but in a simpler, “user-friendly” way. Saying that, I have friends who loved it! I did enjoy reading.
A New Earth, (more the last two chapters) and being on a path for many years, most of these concepts Eckart Tolle features in this book are not foreign to me. Also look for The Power Of Now and a new children’s book he co-authored (my children’s book section). To learn more about Ekhart Tolle, go to his website: www.ekharttolle.com.
