Spring is approaching – clear out, clean up and detox

In the northern hemisphere spring is around the corner. While I look out my window and see the last bits of snow, the sun is shining reminding me that the good weather is around the corner.

I love Spring time as it’s a time for all things to grow and sprout up – the grass, the flowers and even ourselves. The last few months we have experienced some very heavy energetic months. Around the solar eclipse (end of February) and recent full moon (March 12th) I have seen many of my friends, their husbands/partners and children become sick with the flu, pneumonia, bronchitis, and viruses lasting weeks. One of my friends was admitted to the hospital with an obstruction in her bowel; another friend’s husband admitted himself to the hospital to find out he needed a stint as one of his arteries were narrowed.

While these things are concerning I am happy and grateful to say that things are ok with all of them.

Now that Spring is approaching I encourage each one of us, myself included, to clear out the old fears, worries, concerns, garbage – physically, mentally and spiritually. Physically we can choose to eat healthier and remove some of the sugar and salt items (or reduce) from our diet. I am drinking more water and making sure I take all of my vitamins. I may even decide to do a detox. I want to clear out my office of old papers and things that no longer serve me. I think today is a great day to start!

For the mental and spiritual, I am using mindfulness to help me with this. It is a practice that takes time and practice. I also use meditation to help with this clearing.

I wrote my intentions for this year and I begin each morning reading them. I do this to put me in the mindset of where I want to be. I see myself already in a place of peace and joy, abundance in my life and work and so on. I also take 10 minutes to meditate and quiet my mind and see what arises. I allow what comes up to do so and then just observe what feelings come with it. This allows me to start my day with a clear mind and to ground myself.

What can you do this weekend to start to clear out, clean out, and detox from the old garbage you are holding? Look around you, who you are surrounding yourself with? What foods you are eating? What are the thoughts you are carrying and see what is serving you and what is not, then let it go.

To being, take that first step and then another one and then another one.
