Surround yourself with a strong support system

I finished the first of four books and I feel good. I am realizing that this was the easy part. The process of bringing a book to the market is so involved. There are highs and there are lows. For me to make it through this process I must stay focused, confident, and stay true to my work. This sounds easier than it is, for there are many along the way that challenge my vision, purpose and Y.

To make it through this time I am surrounding myself with a few key people who believe in me and my work, will support me and remind me that what I am doing is important. I want to clarify that I am not looking to be told I am great, NO. I am asking that when I’m feeling down because something has derailed my work, that this group picks me up and says, “San, what you are doing is important” and “You can do it!”

I know ultimately it comes down to me and my thoughts, actions and beliefs. I am choosing to distance myself from anyone who brings me down.

I just received a curve ball so I turned to one of the people in my support system and we talked it through. We talked about how things happen for a reason and when one door closes another one opens. This really helps put things in perspective. It doesn’t take away from the initial disappointment. However, I will not let this derail me from my purpose. I will allow these feelings and then move on from this.

If you are going through something, challenging and pushing yourself to be do something or to be different, find a small group of people that your trust to surround you during this time. I spoke to three of the people in my group personally and asked them if they will be my supporters. These are my close friends so I knew they will support me. In fact, they feel honoured to be asked by me. I know they will allow me to show my vulnerabilities without the fear of being putdown.

For that I am grateful.

Find your support system and surround yourself by these people. For those who bring you down, for now distance yourself or choose when you want to spend time. The ego mind is very harsh and will do everything in its power to bring you down. Stay focused, positive and true to your heart. I believe it is these things that will guide you (and me) through these times.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful weekend.

Thank you for your support.

All my love,

Sandra
